The Jazz Kitchen is a jazz club and restaurant located on the corner of 54th Street and College Avenue, an apt location with a history of music from Crazy Al’s restaurant and bar (known as a venue for alternative, punk, and new wave in the 1970s and 1980s) to a guitar shop.

The club, which is owned by Dave Allee, opened in 1994 and quickly became a hotspot of SoBro. Local, regional, and international jazz musicians have performed there including the likes of Harry Connick Jr, Ray Brown, and Diane Schuur. In addition to performances, the Jazz Kitchen is known for its mix of cajun and midwest cuisine.

The Jazz Kitchen is also invested in fostering the jazz scene in Indianapolis. The club has worked closely with the Indianapolis Jazz Foundation, serving as a venue for the Indy Jazz Fest. In 2009, the Jazz Kitchen even partnered with the Jazz Foundation and Owl Studios to create a new entity to take over the production of Indy Jazz Fest.
