In 2003, two IT industry organizations—the Indiana Software Association (ISA) and the Indiana Information Technology Association (INITA)—merged to form TechPoint. Three years later, this organization became part of the
.TechPoint is the nonprofit, industry-led growth initiative for Indiana’s technology companies and overall tech ecosystem. It is focused on attracting talent, accelerating scale-up companies, activating the community, and amplifying stories of success. To accomplish this mission, the organization collaborates with academic, government, and industry leaders on several projects.
Xtern is a 10-week summer internship program for tech-skilled college students. Participants work alongside industry leaders at Indy’s fastest-growing tech companies to exercise skills learned in the classroom, gain professional work experience, and network with other Xterns. The program also hosts civic engagement events for students to give back to the local community.
After graduating from college, Xtern alumni are eligible to join The Grid. This program provides job placement, professional networking, and socialization services to help young professionals acclimate to Indianapolis, meet friends, and launch their careers.
Sales Bootcamp, meanwhile, is available for both recent grads and career changers. This four-week program provides training for sales careers in the tech industry. After training is complete, participants can interview with local companies.
In addition to professional development resources, TechPoint hosts numerous signature events that highlight achievements from Indiana’s tech industry. One of the biggest events is the Mira Awards, which recognizes achievement, discovery, and innovation in technology as well as the support and advancement of the tech community.
Another event is the Tech 25 Awards. Established in 2015, this annual ceremony recognizes 25 individuals who are growing Indiana’s tech community but are not executives. Winners represent a wide range of roles within tech companies, such as software developers, financial analysts, marketing directors, and product managers.
These awards not only recognize current accomplishments but also amplify these success stories to media, investors, and technology buyers nationwide.
