A national leadership education program based in Indianapolis that serves not-for-profit organizations, their boards, and staffs, Leadership Ventures began as Trustee Leadership Development (TLD), a nonprofit organization administered by Trinity Episcopal Church and funded by Lilly Endowment, Inc. Katherine Tyler Scott served as its founding director for 16 years.

Renamed Leadership Ventures in 1998, the organization maintained a national network of almost 200 trustee educators, including 100 from Indiana.  Leadership Ventures operated for 12 years and trained more than 30,000 board and staff members. It closed in 2010 as a result of funding problems following the Recession of 2007-2008. Lacy Leadership Association took over the flagship event, known as the Board Chair Summit.
