, CEO and board chair of U.S. Corrugated-Fiber Box Company and Lacy Diversified Industries, established the Lacy Foundation in memory of her youngest son, Stanley K. Lacy. The foundation has continued the Lacy family legacy of community engagement, with a focus on education, leadership, and quality-of-life issues. Its primary philanthropic objective is to help support Indianapolis as a world-class city in which to work, live, and play. Philanthropic giving is primarily directed to support endeavors related to education, community and civic engagement, and arts and culture in Central Indiana. For more than 30 years, , Edna Balz Lacy’s daughter and the sister of , served as the foundation’s president.
The Lacy Foundation owns and underwrites the ®, a 10-month program designed to help emerging community leaders become more informed about the issues facing Central Indiana, more motivated to get involved in addressing those issues, and more connected to other leaders in service to the Indianapolis community.
Since 1976, SKL® has engaged leaders and fostered community stewardship through educational seminars, tours, and interaction with experts, leaders, and decision-makers. By 2020, there were more than 1,000 graduates of the program, many of whom have had a significant impact on the city in a variety of leadership positions.
